AL QASBA

AL QASBA

For most people, the United Arab Emirates means just one place: Dubai, the sci-fi-esque city of iconic skyscrapers, palm-shaped islands, city-sized malls, indoor ski slopes and palatial beach resorts. But guess what? Beyond the glitter awaits a diverse mosaic of six more emirates, each with its own character and allure.
One of these amazing emirates is located North of Dubai, Sharjah. South of the Khalid Lagoon, popular Al-Qasba is an attractively landscaped and lively mix of restaurants, cafes and entertainment venues along a canal linked by a twinkling bridge. Diversions include a Ferris wheel, abra (water taxi) rides on the lagoon, and a superb contemporary art gallery, the Maraya Art Centre, which opened in 2011.
